A Voice in the Midst of Echoes

“For this is He that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.”

Mathew 3:3

John the Baptist was no parrot, he preached a message that was straight from the Lord and he did not care what the religious intelligentsia thought on the matter. John understood clearly that the Lamb must increase and he must decrease. This is why John described himself as a ‘voice’ with no identity or grand appearance. But he was a voice and NOT an echo!! Is it any wonder that the ministerial association despised ole’ John?

Antioch Baptist College with her faculty and students would like to emulate the ministry of John the Baptist. This year 2009 we are stressing the theme,

"A Voice in the midst of Echoes."

We are not saying by this that we are not in agreement with our sound brethren and sister ministries, but we are declaring seven things:

  1. By God’s grace we want to be heard, we are asking God to give us a greater hearing.
  2. We are reminding ourselves that in the grand scheme of things, it is not about ABC, it is about the Cause of God and Truth.
  3. We are NOT going to bow to a ‘PC’ mentality; rather a ’BC’ (Biblically Correct) posture is how we govern ourselves.
  4. We are not going to allow our critics to silence us; the echoes always fade, but the VOICE needs to be clear.
  5. We are not going to allow others to misrepresent us, we are TR/KJV not Ruckmanite, we are decidedly Free Grace, not hyper-Calvinist, we are Evangelistic, not Arminian, we are historic Baptists, but we are not ultra denominational and mean spirited; and we emphasize higher academics, but we also believe in the practicalities of reaching our generation with a relevant message.
  6. We want our voice to become a chorus of zealous evangels; therefore we are recruiting more students.
  7. We enjoy being in the minority because we refuse to get in step with foolish trends like the “Seeker Sensitive Movement”

We covet your prayers and we ask for your support. We are not a mission, but we are preparing missionaries, we are not a Church, but we are training church –planters, and we are not going to compromise our message in order to win the world’s approval.

Antioch Baptist College is simply a Voice in the midst of Echoes.
